  Hmm, I've always avoided iPods before now, but this touch thingy looks kinda cool. Any way to ensure that it will work without damaging my carefully created mp3 library?

  Just make sure you never turn on "consolidate song library" and iTunes will leave your MP3s entirely alone.
  
  Though frankly having iTunes organize stuff for me has been a godsend.

  160GB is stupidly big. I struggle to fill 30GB - but generally dont add many videos - longing for a widescreen.
  
  Oh wait they are releasing a widescreen - but only 16GB? What are apple playing at?

  The rebate does take a certain amount of sting out of things, it's true. Still, $100 is quite a lot to pay to get my iPod 3 months early.

  If you didn't feel ripped off when you bought it then why would you feel ripped off now? If you believe it was worth every cent of the $599 on Sept 4th then you got what you paid for, it just means that those that waited have got a much better deal.
  
  OK, I admit I was surprised that the drop was so steep, £300 would be the most I'd be willing to pay for the device (which is about $600) but due to the way they always overcharge us here I could imagine it would have sold for about £400 before the price drop. Now it's $399 in the US we'll probably get it for £299 in the UK whenever they bother to launch it.
  
  Discovered zuneinsider.com yesterday. They've cut the price of the Zune the day before the apple announcement. They need to just give up, their device is a joke, but some of the comments are amusing.
